Cool Musical Sites

  • Blue Gobo
A site featuring TV clips from hundreds of Broadway shows. Great stuff.
  • Broadway Box
An uber-site for ticket discounts. Very useful, indeed.
  • Broadway Stars
A neat daily roundup of top theater stories. (Doesn't hurt that they include my blog. ::cough cough::)
  • CastAlbumCollector.com
A comprehensive, and growing, database of cast and theater-related recordings. An online community for the musical-obsessed.
  • Damon Runyon Broadway Tickets
Want tickets to The Book of Mormon? Or Wicked? If money is no object, check these guys out. Proceeds benefit the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.
  • Did He Like It?
A cool compendium of critical response to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
  • Dress Circle
The shop to visit when you're in London. And, depending on the exchange rate, a great place to find foreign cast recordings.
  • Givenik
When you buy tickets through Givenik, 5% goes to charity. Show choices are limited, but it's a nice way of diverting funds to a worthy cause.
  • Internet Broadway Database
An invaluable resource of people, productions, and performance venues.
  • Internet Off-Broadway Database
Similar to the IBDB, except for Off-Broadway shows, and not quite as comprehensive.
  • Musical Shop
Another source for foreign cast albums. Smaller selection than Sound of Music, but better prices.
  • Playbill Online
The best theater site on the Web. News, features, columns, quizzes, contests, discount tickets, and more.
  • Sound Advice
Talkin' Broadway's list of upcoming cast recordings, books, and DVDs. Updated very regularly.
  • Sound of Music
Great source of foreign cast albums. Slow service, but, hey, they're shipping this stuff from Germany.
  • StageGrade
A new-and-improved version of Critic-O-Meter. Provides a useful critical consensus on Broadway and Off Broadway shows.
  • Theater Mania
Lots of great info on shows and theater people. Plus reviews and ticket discounts.
  • Theatre Monkey
A independent guide to London theater (Er...excuse me...theatre)
  • Triton Gallery
The best place to find theater posters on the Web.

Musicals You Should See

  • A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder
A wonderfully witty and tuneful little show, with a superb cast
  • After Midnight
A rollicking good time, full of high spirits, fabulous dancing, and classic songs
  • Avenue Q
The original "little show that could." Funny and fresh. Now playing Off-Broadway at the New World Stages.
  • Beautiful
A good jukebox musical? No. A great jukebox musical. Great songs, real people, and terrific performances
  • Matilda
Tremendous fun, with stronger stagecraft, finer performances, a bigger heart, and heartier laughs than any other musical this season
  • Once
Heartfelt and powerful. Makes you believe again in the power of theater that focuses on people, not spectacle.
  • The Book of Mormon
Uproariously enjoyable. Profoundly profane, but also surprisingly sweet.
  • The Bridges of Madison County
A stunning show, with a ravishing score, and two knock-out performances at the center
  • The Fantasticks
A timeless little gem of a show with a universal message.
  • Wicked
I'm not ashamed to admit it: I love Wicked. Sure, it's a spectacle, but it's got a brain and a heart, too.
